Recommend Me Some Music

 


This is my latest treat to myself.

It's an Mp3 player. You know, like we used to have? Way back when in - oooh - the early 2000s?!

That's basically it. You attach it to your computer via USB; you transfer some Mp3 files across; you plug in your headphones and you listen whilst you walk/bus/train somewhere.
All whilst not being on your phone.

I tried it out on a long canal walk yesterday, and it was blissful. I got right back into listening to Muse's 'Absolution', and was immediately air-drumming along, no doubt to the amusement of the ducks/other towpath users.

And one of the things I realised yesterday was that whilst I have a good collection of music now; mainly metal, but also some classical, and - more recently - some different genres to those; I don't have as wide a collection as I would like.

So this is where YOU come in [yes, you!]:

I would like you to send me your recommendations for some albums that I should listen to from start to finish.

No real restrictions, other than it must be an album that you've listened to (and enjoyed!) from start to finish [not just an album that happens to have a track from an artist you really like on it]; I'm not particularly interested in compilation albums or similar; like if a film you like has a jukebox soundtrack (like 'Guardians of the Galaxy' for example) - soundtracks in general absolutely welcome though! - and similarly, any jukebox musicals that would just function as a 'best of' for an artist.

I'd also try and avoid something from artists I've listed below - as chances are the choices I've made are my personal favourites of theirs already - unless you think I have definitely missed something of theirs that I should really reconsider!

  The concept of selfishness... is a pretentious way to begin a blog. However, it is also something that I think gets portrayed in a negative light when you are young and developing. Probably for sensible reasons; like if a society wants to operate - it will need people to be external-facing, open to engagement; and maybe not too selfish. I ATE'NT DEAD

  As the title suggests, I'm still here. Just wanted to let folk know that really - especially those of you that aren't necessarily in current contact with me. There's not much to report on at this moment in time - Project Chrysalis is ongoing, but progress is - deliberately - slow. Rest assured I am taking good care of myself, and those closest to me are being exceptionally wonderful, and I truly do not know how much more time I will need. And I am okay with that. Consider me in 'maintenance mode'. A lot of my additional functions are not in operation right now, and I'm focussing on the basics; and then - when the inclination takes me - I'm exploring my interests and the social circles I have been a part of, and figuring out what works; what I might come back to; and what I might need to leave behind. My aim is to deliver a more tangible and meaningful update towards the end of the current series (or around the end of September for you Gregorians out there)...

This Is About Division

[Disclaimer: This is being written less than 24 hours since the ruling by the UK Supreme Court that a woman is defined by biological sex, under the 2010 Equalities Act. There will inevitably be elements of this that I have missed, and I am not a legal expert so I don't expect to be able to deconstruct that aspect of this news.
